I understand
that the GreyHound has never been in a home before and will
require my time and patience during the initial adjustment
period. He/she may chew items, or dig in the yard or
steal food off of counters. He/she has never climbed up or
down stairs and is also unfamiliar with windows and mirrors.
I understand
that GreyHounds are strictly indoor pets and cannot live
outside.
I understand
that GreyHounds cannot run loose because they are sight-hounds
and will instinctively chase any moving object regardless of the
danger involved.
Once I own a
GreyHound I would be willing to complete a questionnaire and receive
a follow up visit.

when selecting your pet. The temperament of the dog and its ability to
complement your household is our primary concern.
Second Agreement Section
I agree to donate $250.00 to
L.I.G.H.T. Inc. to help defray kennel and veterinary expenses for all dogs prior to adoption. I understand that my
donation is non-refundable. The following medical services have been
performed: spaying/neutering, heartworm testing, fecal analysis, rabies
vaccination, and a DHLPP booster, as well as a general health check-up.
I will send a
$75.00 non-refundable fee in advance to start the adoption process.
I understand that
I am adopting a rescued GreyHound and I am willing to accept full
and immediate responsibility for the ownership of a GreyHound,
including all the health costs and necessary burdens and
responsibilities of owning a pet.
My GreyHound will
receive medical care as needed as well as its annual vaccinations
and spring heartworm test.
I will see to it
that my GreyHound is exercised daily and is leash-walked, or let off
the lead in a completely fenced in area at least three times each
day to take care of bodily functions.
I agree to
maintain my GreyHound as a indoor pet.
I will keep my GreyHound
L.I.G.H.T. I.D. tag and collar bearing a tag with my
name, address, and telephone number on my GreyHound at all times.
I will contact a
L.I.G.H.T. representative if for any reason I cannot keep my
GreyHound. I will not give my GreyHound to a dog pound, or animal
shelter of any kind. I will return my GreyHound to L.I.G.H.T. at 20 West
Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801 in the event I can no longer care
for my GreyHound.
I release L.I.G.H.T. of any responsibility (hold harmless) for any
damage that my GreyHound may cause to my own and/or family's
personal being or belongings (i.e. chewing furniture, digging in the
yard, biting, etc....)
